Lights Out
“I, the Lord, do not change…” In the world today, people will try and tell you that God is different than he was 2000, 1000, 100, even 50 years ago! People will tell you that it’s okay to have premarital sex, to not tithe, to not obey his commandments, and to not take the Bible literally anymore because that’s just not the way the world is now… How different this view is from what God says in Malachi 3:6, above.
The reality is that people want God to change. They want to be able to do the sinful things they want to do, and expect God to change what’s right and wrong. Imagine this! We want God to change what is good and bad. How silly is this? Do you find yourself thinking that since our culture is changing and things are becoming more acceptable to the world that these things aren’t wrong anymore?
Last week, the power went out at SIUE- all over campus. They had to cancel classes because of this. I thought, 150 years ago, there wouldn’t have been lights to go out in school. School wouldn’t have been canceled back then.
But, because of our technology and the way our schools function now- school could not go on.
Just because our technology is changing, what we see on TV is changing, and what’s going on in the world is changing does not mean that God is. Think about it this week. Are you asking God to change for you? Or is there really something that you need to change in yourself?
God’s Blessings,
Alex
